Josh Murrell

Hey, I’m Josh.

I’m currently Group Creative Director at Ogilvy, with 20 years of experience shaping ideas that build brands, spark culture, and stick in people’s minds. I’ve always been drawn to ads that don’t feel like ads. Ideas that connect, make people think, and actually work. I believe creativity should do both: be original and be effective.

Over the years, I’ve had the chance to create and lead teams at some of Australia’s best agencies, including DDB, CHEP, Grey, and AJF Partnership. Across brands such as Cadbury, AAMI, ANZ, TAC, BMW MINI and Football Australia.

Along the way, my work has been recognised at the biggest shows out there (I think I’ve collected the full set). Cannes, D&AD, One Show, Clio, LIA, NY Festivals, AWARD, Effies, and more.

For me, the best ideas come from real human truths, brought to life with care and craft. Whether it’s for a global brand or a local challenger, I’m passionate about making work that sticks with people.

Outside of advertising, you’ll usually find me exploring art and technology with my daughter. Whether that’s wandering galleries, picking up new Procreate skills, or building Minecraft worlds together. And I’m never far from a good black coffee and a long walk with The Captain, my schnoodle sidekick.
